Can You Help With Mill Street Cares?
Mill Street Cares helps 25 families in need at Mill Street Elementary, our neighbor across the street, feed their children breakfast and lunch, the meals the children normally receive at school when it is in session, during Winter Break, 12/22-1/7. The St. Timothy Family has generously donated food and gift cards to Mill Street Cares during extended school breaks since the spring of 2015.
This year we will be using Sign-Up Genius to sign up for specific food items requested from the school. The list includes many kid-friendly foods, as well as an option to purchase $25 gift cards in order for each family to be able to purchase perishable items we cannot supply (fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, dairy and proteins).
Food donations can be placed on the Mill Street Cares tables at St. Timothy no later than Wednesday, 12/12.
Gift card donations can be given to Shari Helms in the office, or can be placed in Tonya Schmidt’s mailbox in the Conference Room.
The Sunday School and LOGOS kids, teachers, and volunteers will organize and package the food on Sunday, 12/16, during Sunday School, to be shared with Mill Street Elementary on 12/17, in time for distribution before Winter Break.
A Thrivent Action Team was formed, which will help offset costs by providing $250 in seed money for Mill Street Cares. Thrivent Financial Action Teams provide financial support to help offset the costs of social ministry and educational programs.
Thank you to Jewel-Osco who donated reusable grocery bags in which to pack the food for delivery to Mill Street Elementary.
If each of us contributes a little, we can help a LOT! Please consider donating some food for our neighbors in need. Thank you!
