Who We Are….

We are a joyful, warm-hearted, accepting Christian community that knows how to pray and care for each other and God’s world. We believe what the Bible says: God is love … for all people. No exceptions.

God continually pours out the divine heart, working in all places, all people and in all creation. We look for God’s love everywhere.

Jesus Christ is God’s Word, the Voice of Love speaking and acting, healing and blessing, suffering and dying. We seek to speak God’s love in word and in action.

The Spirit is the energy of God’s life, active in the world, in us and in all creation. We seek to be filled with God’s Spirit and “live the love of Christ.”

We serve this Triune God as revealed in the Bible and confessed in the teaching and tradition of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

If you would like to know more about St. Tim’s, please use the Contact Us page and let us know how we can be of help.

Our Core Mission is to:

“Live the Love of Christ”

As receivers of God’s unconditional love through Word and Sacrament, we commit all that we have to Living the Love of Christ through:

  • Worship and celebration of the sacraments
  • Education in Christian beliefs and values
  • Support of the faith, friendship and lives of those in our congregation family
  • Service in meeting the human needs of others in our community and in the world.

About Our Ministries

Four Key Practices

St. Timothy is excited to introduce a new way to organize our ministries. This will help us grow by guiding our congregational members to the ministry where their gifts and talents are well-matched and also where they might feel a calling.  This will better allow us to use our time and talents more wisely.

The Lutheran church emphasizes four key practices that help us grow into our full potential as a community of faith. Koinonia (Fellowship) fosters strong fellowship, allowing us to build relationships and identify areas within our congregation where people can get involved. Kerygma (Proclaim) focuses on the proclamation of the Gospel, encouraging us to share our faith and become better stewards of our time and talent (church service). Diakonia (Caring) calls us to service, guiding us to care for those in need and live out our faith in action. Didache (Education) centers on teaching and deepening our understanding of Christian beliefs so we can grow spiritually and support one another. Together, these practices help us thrive as a community and live out our faith in meaningful ways.

St. Timothy’s Welcome Statement

St. Timothy Lutheran joyfully welcomes all people of any race, national origin, age, gender, ability, relationship status, political affiliation or sexual orientation, whether you are a believer, doubter or seeker. We welcome all because God welcomes all. Sharing and learning from our different experiences and ideas about life and faith, we live the love of Christ together.

Frequently Ask Questions

What is a welcome statement?

It is exactly that—a clear statement of a congregation’s commitment to welcome members and non-members alike to share in worship and ministry.

Why do congregations write welcome statements?

Welcome statements tell members and prospective members that everyone is welcome to share fully in congregational ministries and programs. Congregational welcome statements often express a special welcome to groups who may have felt unwanted or excluded in church.

Where will I see it?

The Welcome Statement will appear in church publications such as Tidings, Tidbits, Timbytes, and in online communication such as St. Timothy’s website (www.sttimothylutheran.com) and Facebook page.

What is it used for?

The Welcome Statement is a communication tool, announcing that our congregation is an open-hearted, inclusive community where people of diverse backgrounds and experiences live out their spiritual journey together.

Will our pastors perform same-sex marriages at St. Timothy?

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America allows individual churches to make this decision. The Congregation discussed this and the Council voted to perform same sex marriages at St. Timothy.

What are the ministry implications?

The Welcome Statement challenges all our members to live the love of Christ by reaching out to those who are not members of our congregation and who may be different from themselves. It also challenges us to examine how we welcome and maintain caring contacts with everyone who enters our building—members, non-members and community groups.

Where does it direct our ministries outside our current membership?

The Welcome Statement directs the congregation beyond those who are already members to seek ways to partner and engage in ministry with diverse populations in our immediate neighborhood and community.
