Health Corner – Summer is a coveted timed…

Summer is a coveted time when we can do things that the chillier Illinois months and the busy school year calendars don’t always allow. Summer can be a time when we trade the grind of nightly homework for enjoyable summer reading; or when the overscheduled calendars give way to a bit more flexibility or spontaneity. Family time may include a little less stress and hold space for a bit more laughter and relaxed sharing.  As the calendar turns to new month, perhaps it will bring a little less noise from the symphony of cicadas and more opportunity for peaceful moments amidst God’s beautiful creation. May we be able to create a little more space in our busy lives to let God turn our ordinary into extraordinary moments.  

Ideas for making the most of your summer:

  • Unplug, disconnect and enjoy nature    
  • Attend outdoor worship     
  • Volunteer or try something new
  • Join a book club     
  • Focus on Renewal   
  • Find an opportunity to YES to something    
  • Look at the stars
  • Slow down and be present   
  • Tend to a flower bed or herb garden    
  • Take a prayer walk
  • Have a picnic       
  • Attend an outdoor concert   
  • Do some bird watching   
  • Find pictures in the clouds
  • Watch a sunrise or sunset        
  • Take a bike ride   
  • Cool off in a splashpad/sprinkler    
  • Wear sunscreen
